YOU SAID YES! CONGRATULATIONS!
Getting engaged is such an awesome experience. Just knowing that your special someone wants to spend the rest of their life with you takes you straight to Cloud 9. Although it is a joyous time, it is also a time to put much thought and consideration into your plans. Which professional and reputable vendors will you choose for your special day?
Being in the wedding business for over 30 years in the NY and Charlotte areas, we know how tough it can be to trust someone on one of the most important days of your life. Due to the technological era, couples today have much more access to the internet and social media. 30 years ago when you were shopping around for a DJ to play at your wedding, people found their DJs by referrals from friends or venues. Or the phone book. Nowadays, there are several trusted resources for couples to secure a reputable DJ. Today, couples are finding their DJs on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. By viewing their live feeds on Instagram they get to preview and showcase a DJ in the comfort of their own home. Let’s face it, sometimes they are doing their research at work as well. In 2018, we’ve received more messages on Facebook and Instagram just because the DJ was playing the right kind of music at a function or even when he was home practicing online.
FINDING THE RIGHT VENDORS
People will find 90% of their vendors this year right on their phones. You can get great information from all your vendors by doing some investigative work. If you see great reviews on vendors you’re interested in, it typically means they are great at what they do. Although most people find their vendors online, its always wise to follow up with a physical meeting. After all, this is one of the most important days of your life.
FEW POINTERS ON HIRING A DJ
Like I had mentioned before, finding a DJ in today’s time is easier because of live feeds on Facebook and Instagram. We’ve had an awesome experience dealing with couples both nationally and internationally. In multiple cases, we didn’t meet the couple until the day of the wedding. We’ve employed certain apps to communicate with our clients, such as WhatsApp, Skype and FaceTime. Social Media and the internet is just one tool in finding that perfect DJ. Another important tool in finding a professional DJ, are reviews. More importantly, look for recent reviews. Reviews can make or break a company. Have you ever researched a company and wasn’t happy with their reviews or Better Business rating? A review is an opinion of an actual client or guests who took the time to write about their experience. Studies show that prospective clients weigh heavily on reviews. With our active presence on social media and our commitment to excellence, we have been privileged to receive great reviews.
When considering a DJ company, always opt for one that carries DJ insurance. Liability insurance separates the Hobby DJ from the Professional DJ. The professional is in it for the long haul and aims to protect and insure his company and clients. Secondly, many venues will ONLY work with vendors that carry liability insurance. It ensures a serious, professional and trusting partnership between company, venue and client.
ONE MORE HELPFUL TIP
Here is one more tip that should help you find a DJ that is right for your event. Make sure he understands YOUR MUSIC. To often I hear clients giving their DJ a CD of music they like. Your DJ should understand the music you and your family like to hear and know what other genres would compliment your style. A lot of DJ’s nowadays seem to want to rely on a Spotify playlist. Not every song on Spotify can be played for family members. It is important that your DJ includes your guests request and reads the crowd, so that everyone has a great time. After all, your reception is the culmination of one of the most important days of your life and your music should reflect it.
Once again, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT…Have fun planning your special day!!!
